Koga has joined the Elite Four: his daughter, Janine, now runs the Fuchsia City Gym. The Safari Zone is closed, its warden away on vacation, but the town keeps its charm as a seaside resort. Two paths lead there: the coast from Lavender Town, or the Cycling Road from Celadon City.

🏖️The coastal routes

From Lavender Town, Routes 12, 13, 14 and 15 run along the sea to Fuchsia City. Nidorina, Nidorino, Noctowl at night and, very rarely, Chansey hide in the grass. On Route 14, a trainer offers to trade his Aerodactyl for a Chansey: it is the only way to get one in the game without trading with Red, Blue or Yellow.

🥷Fuchsia Gym

In the Gym, every trainer wears the same disguise as their Gym Leader: there is no way to tell who the real Janine is before talking to her. Defeat them one by one: they go back to being themselves after the battle.

Our strategy

Toxic, Confuse Ray and Supersonic: Janine wears down your Pokémon rather than striking them. Keep some Full Heals. The Weezing know Explosion: a Ghost or Rock Pokémon limits the damage. Psychic hits the whole team hard and is the ideal weapon. Ground (Earthquake) is very effective against both Weezing, but has no effect on Crobat. Crobat also fears Electric, Ice and Rock; Venomoth and Ariados, Fire, Flying and Rock.

💤Waking Snorlax

Go back to Vermilion City, in front of Diglett’s Cave. Tune your PokéGear’s radio to the Poké Flute station: Snorlax wakes up with a start and attacks you. It is level 50 and does not flee: it is an excellent recruit, sturdy and powerful.

Snorlax wakes up!

Diglett’s Cave is now clear: it leads straight to Route 2, near Pewter City.
