💡The lighthouse’s light

Fly to Olivine City and climb back up the lighthouse. Give the Secret Potion to Jasmine: she immediately gives it to Ampharos, whose tail starts to glow again. Relieved, she thanks you and heads back down to wait for you at the Gym.

⚙️The Olivine City Gym

No Trainers here: Jasmine is alone in her Gym. She is the first Gym Leader to use the Steel type, introduced in Gold and Silver. Steel resists most types; it only fears Fire, Fighting and Ground.

Our strategy

Both Magnemite can paralyze with Thunder Wave and hit Water and Flying Pokémon hard. A Ground attack (TM28 Dig from the National Park, Geodude’s Magnitude) or a Fire attack takes care of them in one go. Steelix, at level 35, is a wall of Defense: Screech lowers yours before Iron Tail strikes. It fears Fire, Water, Ground and Fighting. A special Fire attack (Quilava, Typhlosion), Croconaw’s Surf or the Fighting attacks of a Poliwrath or a Machoke are ideal. Beware of Sunny Day, which boosts Fire… but weakens Water.
