Two Game Corners await lucky trainers: the one in Goldenrod City, in Johto, and the one in Celadon City, in Kanto. Slot machines and a card game earn you coins, which can be exchanged for powerful TMs or Pokémon you can’t find anywhere else.

Before you play

  • You need a Coin Case to store your coins. It’s lying on the ground in the Goldenrod Tunnel, beneath Goldenrod City.
  • Coins can also be bought at the counter with Poké Dollars, in packs of 50 or 500.
  • The Coin Case holds a maximum of 9,999 coins.

The games

The slot machines are the main game: line up three identical symbols to win. Some machines are more generous than others. The card game, in Goldenrod City, involves betting on which card will be flipped (color, number or Pokémon): the more precise the bet, the more it pays.

The TMs to win

Game CornerTMs
Goldenrod CityTM25 Thunder, TM14 Blizzard, TM38 Fire Blast
Celadon CityTM32 Double Team, TM29 Psychic, TM15 Hyper Beam

These are among the most powerful moves in the game, and for several of them, the only way to get them. Thunder, Blizzard and Fire Blast in Goldenrod City are an excellent investment before the League.
