With Snorlax awake, Diglett’s Cave opens the way to Pewter City, the stone town at the foot of Mt. Moon. Brock is still Gym Leader there, with a team that has grown up a lot. And an old man in town has a treasure for you: the legendary feather missing from your collection.

🕳️Diglett’s Cave and Route 2

A long, straight tunnel, home to Diglett and Dugtrio, links Vermilion City to Route 2. On the way out, in the house south of the cave, a man gives you a Nugget. Route 2 hides many items in its maze of trees (Cut required).

🪶The old man’s feather

In Pewter City, near the exit to Route 3, an old man is waiting for you. Impressed by your journey, he hands you a legendary feather:

Gold

In Gold, the Silver Wing. With it and Whirlpool, enter the Whirl Islands: Lugia awaits you in the depths, at level 70. A very demanding battle: save, put it to sleep and aim for a long string of Ultra Balls.

Silver

In Silver, the Rainbow Wing. It opens the summit of Ecruteak City’s Tin Tower: Ho-Oh awaits you there at level 70. Save, put it to sleep or paralyze it, and arm yourself with patience.

Crystal

In Crystal, the Silver Wing. With Whirlpool, reach the depths of the Whirl Islands: Lugia awaits you there at level 60. (Ho-Oh, for its part, is earned by catching the three legendary beasts: see the Celadon City step.)

🪨Pewter Gym

A single Camper guards the Gym. Brock has fleshed out his team with revived fossils: Omastar and Kabutops are Rock and Water Pokémon. Water, Grass, Fighting and Ground are your best weapons.

Our strategy

Graveler, Rhyhorn and Onix are Rock and Ground: a Water or Grass attack deals quadruple damage to them. Omastar and Kabutops, Rock and Water, truly fear only Grass (quadruple damage), Electric, Fighting and Ground. Watch out for Earthquake, which Graveler and Rhyhorn know: it hits Electric and Fire Pokémon hard.
