The Action Replay codes for Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal (Game Boy Color, 2001): encounter any wild Pokémon at the level of your choice, Shiny Pokémon, every item and every Ball, infinite money, all the Badges, the moves of your choice and even Pokérus.
These codes work with an Action Replay or a GameShark for the Game Boy Color, on the French version of Pokémon Gold and Silver (the encounter code specific to Crystal is listed separately). They do not work on Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver (Nintendo DS), nor on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.
First of all, save your game. A badly entered code can freeze the game or corrupt a save file: enter the codes one at a time and turn them off once you have the effect you wanted. For the complete walkthrough of the game, see our Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal mini-site.
How to read these codes
Codes are 8 characters long. When a code contains XX, replace those two characters with the hexadecimal value (from 00 to FF) for the effect you want: a Pokémon, an item, a move, a level or a day of the week. For example, 01XXEDD0 becomes 0119EDD0 to encounter Pikachu (value 19).
1. Encounter any wild Pokémon
| Effect | Code | Value of XX |
|---|---|---|
| Encounter the Pokémon of your choice (Gold and Silver) | 01XXEDD0 | The Pokémon’s number, see the tables below |
| Encounter the Pokémon of your choice (Crystal) | 01XX04D2 | The Pokémon’s number, see the tables below |
| Choose the level of wild Pokémon | 01XXFCD0 | 01 = level 1, 32 = level 50, 64 = level 100 (up to FF = level 255) |
| Always encounter Shiny, male or female Pokémon | 01XX19D1 | 07 = Shiny, 05 = male, 04 = female |
Once the code is on, the next wild Pokémon you meet is the one you chose. The value to enter is the Pokémon’s number in the National Pokédex, written in hexadecimal.
