Gold and Silver are the first Pokémon games to follow a real-time clock. The time changes which Pokémon you meet, the light in the towns and even certain evolutions; the day of the week decides appointments you cannot afford to miss. Here is everything that depends on time in Johto and Kanto.

Gold, Silver and Crystal follow a real-time clock: morning from 4 AM to 10 AM, day from 10 AM to 6 PM, night from 6 PM to 4 AM.

The time also affects Eevee’s evolution (Espeon by day, Umbreon at night), the moves Morning Sun, Synthesis and Moonlight, and the lighting of the towns, which darken as evening falls.

- Blue’s sister, in Pallet Town, grooms your Pokémon in the middle of the afternoon.
