Kanto was inspired by the Tokyo region; Johto is inspired by Kansai, its big neighbor to the west. Kyoto and its temples, Osaka and its commerce, Kobe and its harbor: behind every city in Johto hides a very real place. A trip to Japan, cartridge in hand.
The two regions are neighbors in the game just as in reality: the Magnet Train links Goldenrod City to Saffron City as the Shinkansen links Osaka to Tokyo, and Mt. Silver rises on the border.
The matches presented here are those most often noted by fans and observers; Game Freak has never published an official list, but many become obvious once you are there.
