Almost nothing remains of Cinnabar Island: a Pokémon Center, a few rocks, and the memory of a mansion and a laboratory swallowed up by the volcano’s eruption. Blaine has not given up for all that: he has set up his Gym in a cave in the neighboring Seafoam Islands.

🌋Cinnabar Island
From Pallet Town, surf south via Sea Route 21. On the island, only the Pokémon Center is still standing. A trainer is gazing at the ruins: it is Blue, Professor Oak’s grandson and former League Champion. He tells you about the eruption, then flies off to Viridian City, where he now runs the Gym. A Rare Candy is hidden at the very north of the island.

🔥Seafoam Islands Gym
East of Cinnabar Island, on Sea Route 20, the Seafoam Islands have been simplified: a short cave leads directly to Blaine. No trainers, no puzzle: the old Gym Leader awaits you, surrounded by rocks. Water, Rock and Ground are your best weapons.

Blaine
📍 Seafoam Islands GymFire
Only three Pokémon. Magcargo, Fire and Rock, is very slow but sturdy: a Water or Ground attack deals quadruple damage to it. Magmar sets up Sunny Day, which strengthens Fire and weakens Water, and hides ThunderPunch for your Water Pokémon: a Ground or Rock Pokémon is perfect. Rapidash, the strongest (level 50), strikes with Fire Blast: Surf, Earthquake or Rock Slide can handle it.
Only one Badge remains: the one from Viridian City, where Blue is waiting for you. Fly to the city.
