Northwest of Solaceon Town, an elderly couple looks after your Pokémon… and sometimes hands you back an Egg. This is the Sinnoh Day Care, the starting point of all breeding. The fourth generation adds seven new baby Pokémon, several of which hatch only with one specific Incense.
The Day Care takes two Pokémon. It charges ₽100 on pick-up, plus ₽100 per level gained: your Pokémon earn experience there with every step you take, but they learn new moves only in place of the oldest ones.
To get an Egg, you need two compatible Pokémon: a male and a female from the same Egg Group, or any Pokémon with Ditto. The Daycare Checker on the Pokétch, given to you in Solaceon Town, lets you keep an eye on them from a distance.
🥚Getting an Egg
- Leave two compatible Pokémon at the Day Care.
- Walk around: at regular intervals, the old man outside the Day Care may have an Egg for you. He changes position when that is the case.
- Talk to him to receive the Egg. You need a free spot in your party.
- Keep walking with the Egg in your party: it hatches after a number of steps that depends on the species.
The baby is born at Level 1. It belongs to the base species of the mother (or of the Pokémon that is not Ditto), and it can inherit certain moves from its parents: Egg Moves, passed down by the father, and TM or HM moves that the father knows and the baby can learn.
🍼Baby Pokémon and Incenses
Some babies are born only if one of the parents holds an Incense. Without it, the Egg gives the next species. All nine Incenses can be found in Sinnoh:
| Baby | Parents | Incense | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marill, Azumarill | Sea Incense | Route 204, southern part (Surf) | |
| Wobbuffet | Lax Incense | Route 225 (Cut) | |
| Sudowoodo | Rock Incense | Fuego Ironworks | |
| Mr. Mime | Odd Incense | Solaceon Ruins, final chamber | |
| Snorlax | Full Incense | Veilstone City (Rock Climb) | |
| Mantine | Wave Incense | Route 210 north (Surf and Waterfall) | |
| Roselia, Roserade | Rose Incense | Route 212 north (Surf) | |
| Chansey, Blissey | Luck Incense | Ravaged Path (Surf and Rock Smash) | |
| Chimecho | Pure Incense | Route 221 |
✨What’s new in the fourth generation
- Nature: if the mother, or Ditto, holds an Everstone, the baby has a 50% chance of inheriting its Nature.
- The Masuda method: two parents from games in different languages (a Pokémon from a Japanese version, for example) multiply your chances of getting a Shiny Pokémon by five.
- Phione: Manaphy with Ditto gives a Phione Egg, never a Manaphy.
