Diamond, Pearl and Platinum follow your console’s clock. The sky darkens in the evening, some Pokémon only come out at night, and each day of the week has its own surprise. Here is everything that depends on the time and the calendar, with what is happening in Sinnoh right now just below.

The game splits the day into three periods: morning (4 AM to 10 AM), day (10 AM to 8 PM) and night (8 PM to 4 AM). Wild Pokémon change depending on the period, especially in tall grass.

The clock is set on the console itself, not in the game: changing the time on the DS therefore changes the time in Sinnoh, but some daily events are then locked for twenty-four hours.

In Sunyshore City, a woman tells you a different story every day and gives the Pokémon at the head of your party the Ribbon of the day. You need seven for the complete collection.

🔁Every day

  • The Berry Master on Route 208 gives you a Berry.
  • The Lottery at the Jubilife TV station draws a number: if it matches the ID number of one of your Pokémon, you win a prize.
  • The Great Marsh in Pastoria City changes its Pokémon of the day, visible through the binoculars.
  • In Veilstone City, a masseuse takes care of one of your Pokémon: its happiness goes up and it receives an accessory.
  • After the National Pokédex: a new swarm, and a rare Pokémon in the Trophy Garden of the Pokémon Mansion.

🌙Night and morning Pokémon

Hoothoot and Noctowl only come out at night, and many other Pokémon change in frequency depending on the time of day. The module above lists, depending on your version, those that only appear at the current time. For every detail, Pokémon by Pokémon, see the Sinnoh Pokédex.
