A good team is six Pokémon that cover one another, available at the right time, without depending on a trade. Here are six tested teams to finish Diamond, Pearl or Platinum in the best conditions, from Twinleaf Town all the way to Cynthia.
All of these teams follow three rules: every member can be caught or obtained on your own, arrives early enough to follow the adventure, and the whole team covers the types of the eight Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and Cynthia, with at least one Ice-type move for Garchomp.
For each Pokémon, we indicate where and when to obtain it, and its key moves with the level at which it learns them (or the TM). Choose the team for your starter and your version.
