Always in a hurry, always one idea behind, Barry is your neighbor in Twinleaf Town and the most endearing rival in the series. He threatens to fine you ten million every time you bump into each other, but he only wishes you well. Here is each of his battles, with his team depending on your starter.

Barry always picks the starter that has the advantage over yours: Chimchar if you take Turtwig, Piplup against Chimchar, Turtwig against Piplup. The rest of his team adapts too: he fills it out with Pokémon that cover his starter’s weaknesses.

The teams are shown below according to your starter (tabs) and your version (selector at the top of the page). Platinum levels are often higher, except at the League.

🏁The first duel

At the very start of the adventure, Barry challenges you with his brand-new starter, at level 5. The battle is almost a coin flip: both Pokémon only have one Normal-type move and one status move.
