Space suits, improbable haircuts and a dizzying plan: erase the world to create a new one, free of emotions. Team Galactic is the most ambitious organization in the series. Here are its boss, its commanders, their plan and each of their battles.
Team Galactic first presents itself as an energy research company based in Veilstone City. Behind the facade, its boss, Cyrus, wants to seize the power of Dialga and Palkia, the masters of time and space, to remake the universe in his own image.
To do so, he needs the Red Chain, forged from the three lake guardians: Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf. That explains the simultaneous attacks on the three lakes, at the heart of the adventure.
🌌The plan, step by step
- Valley Windworks, then Eterna Forest: Team Galactic steals energy and Pokémon (steps 7 and 8).
- Eterna City: the Team Galactic building, where Jupiter holds the stolen Pokémon (step 10).
- Veilstone City and its Galactic Warehouse, then Iron Island, where the grunts prepare the operation (steps 16 and 23).
- The three lakes, attacked at the same time: Saturn at Lake Valor, Mars at Lake Verity, Jupiter at Lake Acuity (steps 24 to 27).
- Veilstone’s Galactic HQ: Cyrus reveals his plan, and you free the lake guardians (step 28).
- Spear Pillar: Cyrus uses the Red Chain (step 29), and in Platinum, the Distortion World (step 30).
🧑🚀Cyrus, the boss
Calm, cold, and convinced that emotions are the source of all evil, Cyrus runs Team Galactic with an iron fist. You first meet him without knowing who he is: at Mt. Coronet in Diamond and Pearl, and at Lake Verity and in front of the Eterna statue in Platinum.

In Platinum, he fights once more, at Celestic Town, and ends in the Distortion World with five Pokémon, including Houndoom.

Energetic and self-assured, Mars leads the attack on the Valley Windworks and then on Lake Verity. In Platinum, you meet her again after the League, at Stark Mountain.

Charon (Platinum)
Added in Platinum, Charon is the team’s scientist: elderly and cynical, he mostly works for himself. After the League, he tries to seize the Magma Stone at Stark Mountain, before being stopped by Looker.

- Cyrus shows up earlier, and we learn more about his motivations.
- Charon joins the commanders, and Looker, of the International Police, investigates Team Galactic throughout the game.
- The adventure does not end at Spear Pillar: Giratina carries Cyrus off into the Distortion World, where the final battle takes place.
- Mars and Jupiter reappear after the League, at Stark Mountain.
