After the League, the real challenge begins in northeastern Sinnoh. Diamond and Pearl offer the Battle Tower, seven trainers in a row with no healing; Platinum thinks bigger with the Battle Frontier and its five facilities. Here are the rules, the rewards and the essentials to get started.

You get there by the Snowpoint ferry, which leads to the Fight Area (see step 35). Wins there earn you Battle Points, which you can exchange for items and TMs that cannot be found anywhere else.

Battles are fought at level 50, and a given species or item can appear only once on the team.

🏢The Battle Tower (Diamond and Pearl)

In Diamond and Pearl, the Fight Area opens onto the Battle Park, home to the Battle Tower. The principle: beat seven trainers in a row to complete a streak, with no chance to heal your Pokémon between battles (they are healed between streaks).

  • Single Battle, with three Pokémon.
  • Double Battle, with four Pokémon.
  • Multi Battle, with a friend or with a partner from the adventure (Cynthia, Riley, Buck, Mira, Cheryl…), two Pokémon each.

Its leader, Palmer, Barry’s father, awaits you at the end of several streaks: beating him earns a silver, then a gold distinction.

🏟️The Battle Frontier (Platinum)

Platinum replaces the Battle Park with a Battle Frontier of five buildings, each with its own rules and its own leader:

FacilityThe idea
Battle TowerThe classic challenge: seven trainers in a row, in single, double or multi. Leader: Palmer.
Battle FactoryYou battle with rental Pokémon, and you can swap one of yours for a Pokémon from the defeated opponent.
Battle ArcadeA wheel spins before each battle and decides an effect: healing, weather change, items, penalties…
Battle CastleHealing, items and information about the opponent are paid for with points earned in battle: you have to manage your resources.
Battle HallA single Pokémon faces opponents of a chosen type, type after type, each stronger than the last.
