East of Hearthome City, Route 209 leads to a silent tower where departed Pokémon rest, then to the peaceful village of Solaceon Town, known for its Pokémon Day Care and its ruins covered in Unown inscriptions.

🎣Route 209

Right at the entrance, a fisherman gives you the Good Rod if you answer “Yes” to his question: no more Magikarp on every cast. The route is full of trainers (levels 15 to 19), including a Young Couple for a Double Battle. In the tall grass, the rare Chansey (5%) gives a huge amount of experience, so don’t let it get away.

Diamond · Pearl

Mime Jr. appears mostly in the morning in Diamond, and Bonsly in Pearl.

🪦Spiritomb and the Odd Keystone

In the middle of the route, a small cracked stone monument is waiting for its missing piece. Place the Odd Keystone you received on Route 208 into it. To awaken Spiritomb (level 25), you then have to talk to 32 other players in the Underground over a local wireless connection (the same player can count several times), then come back and examine the monument. In the fourth generation, this Ghost and Dark Pokémon had no weaknesses at all.

🕯️The Lost Tower

This large five-story building houses the graves of departed Pokémon. Its visitors come to pay their respects, and at night Gastly, Zubat and, in Platinum, Duskull haunt its floors. On the third floor, pick up TM27 Return; on the first, the Oval Stone.

Diamond · Pearl

At the top, two old ladies keep watch. The one on the left gives you HM04 Strength, which moves boulders, and the one on the right gives you a Cleanse Tag, which keeps wild Pokémon away.

Platinum

In Platinum, the top is shrouded in fog: you will have to come back with HM05 Defog. The two old ladies will then give you a Spell Tag and a Cleanse Tag. HM04 Strength, for its part, will be given to you by Riley on Iron Island.

🏡Solaceon Town

A quiet but very useful village:

  1. The Pokémon Day Care raises two Pokémon for you. Leave a compatible male and female there to get an Egg. It is all explained in our guide Day Care, Eggs and baby Pokémon.
  2. In the house at the bottom right, a woman gives you the Seal Case, to decorate your Poké Balls with seals that animate when you send out your Pokémon.
  3. The editor-in-chief of the Pokémon newspaper gives you a mission every day: show him a specific Pokémon in exchange for a reward.

🔣The Solaceon Ruins and the Unown

East of the village, underground ruins are home to Unown in its 26 forms, from A to Z. At the entrance, an inscription in Unown runes shows the order of the stairs to follow: upper right, lower left, upper right, upper left, upper left, lower left. The forms you meet in the successive chambers spell out the word FRIEND.

The last chamber hides a Nugget, the Spooky Plate and the Odd Incense, as well as a Rare Candy in Diamond and Pearl.

Platinum

In Platinum, this last chamber is also where you will find HM05 Defog. Outside battle, it clears away fog (the Relic Badge, which you already have in Platinum, allows this), and in battle it lowers the opponent’s evasiveness.
