The League building towers over Sinnoh. Behind its doors wait four elite trainers and a Champion whose reputation reaches far beyond the region. Five battles in a row, with no going back to the Pokémon Center: get ready.

Objective
Defeat the Elite Four, then the Pokémon League Champion
Rewards
entry into the Hall of Fame and access to the post-League content
Recommended level
55 to 62 (Platinum: 52 to 60)

🛡️Before you go in

The League building houses a Pokémon Center and a well-stocked Poké Mart: stock up on Hyper Potions, Max Potions, Revives and Full Heals. Build a team that covers plenty of types: Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ground, Ice, Fighting, Flying, Dark and Dragon are all useful here.

In front of the first door, Barry is waiting for you: he wants to take on the League too, but first, one last duel.

Our strategy

Six Pokémon this time, including a very sturdy Snorlax and his starter at its peak. A Fighting-type Pokémon or a very powerful attack will take Snorlax down. Keep some healing items: you can’t go back to the Pokémon Center once you enter Aaron’s chamber.

    Ability: Battle ArmorItem: Sitrus Berry

Our strategy

Fire, Flying and Rock are super effective against almost his whole team.
Drapion (Poison and Dark), his ace, only fears Ground: keep an Earthquake handy for it. It holds a Sitrus Berry.
Heracross is four times weak to Flying; Scizor (Platinum) is four times weak to Fire.
In Platinum, the rematches use the same team, strengthened: levels 65 to 69.

Our strategy

Water, Grass and Ice dominate. An Empoleon, a Torterra or a Mamoswine works wonders.
Whiscash (Water and Ground) only fears Grass, which is four times effective.
Gliscor (Platinum) is four times weak to Ice; watch out for its three Fang moves.
Hippowdon, her ace in Diamond and Pearl, kicks up a sandstorm with its Ability: your Pokémon that are not Rock, Ground or Steel lose HP every turn.
Rhyperior (Platinum) and Golem, Ground and Rock, are four times weak to Water and Grass. Sudowoodo (Diamond and Pearl) is a pure Rock type.

    • Thunder Punch
    • Flare Blitz
    • Mach Punch

Our strategy

Water, Ground and Rock do the job. A fast Water-type Pokémon sweeps half of his team.
In Diamond and Pearl, his team is surprisingly varied: Steelix, Drifblim and Lopunny join Rapidash and Infernape. Bring Fire or Ground for Steelix, Electric or Dark for Drifblim.
In Platinum, the team is entirely Fire, with Magmortar as the ace. Infernape (Fire and Fighting) is weak to Flying, Psychic, Water and Ground.

    • Earthquake

Our strategy

Dark, Ghost and Bug are your best weapons. A Dark-type Pokémon is also immune to his Psychic attacks.
Bronzong (Steel and Psychic): Fire, Ground (if its Ability isn’t Levitate), Ghost or Dark.
Gallade (Psychic and Fighting, Platinum), his ace, is weak to Flying and Ghost. In Diamond and Pearl, Bronzong brings up the rear.

👑The Champion: Cynthia

The last door opens onto a silent chamber. The Pokémon League Champion is none other than Cynthia, the trainer who has been guiding you since Eterna City. Her team is the most fearsome of the series for its time.

  6. GarchompNo. 66DragonGround
    • Dragon Rush
    • Giga Impact
    • Earthquake
    • Brick Break

    Ability: Sand VeilItem: Sitrus Berry

Our strategy

Garchomp, her ace, is fast and devastating. It is four times weak to Ice: an Ice Beam or a Blizzard from a faster Pokémon (or a Mamoswine) knocks it out. It holds a Sitrus Berry.
Spiritomb has no weaknesses: hit it with your most powerful attacks.
Lucario: Fire, Fighting or Ground. In Diamond and Pearl, it knows Earthquake: be careful with your Fire-type Pokémon.
Milotic: Electric or Grass. It reflects your special attacks with Mirror Coat and, in Diamond and Pearl, heals itself with Aqua Ring.
Roserade: Fire, Flying, Ice or Psychic. Gastrodon (Diamond and Pearl) only fears Grass, four times over. Togekiss (Platinum): Electric, Ice or Rock.

Cynthia congratulates you and leads you to the Hall of Fame, where your Pokémon are immortalized. You are the new Champion of the Sinnoh League. But the adventure doesn’t end there: the National Pokédex and Pal Park.
