Route 206 and Wayward Cave

The Cycling Road of Route 206 runs straight south in one go, above the trees. Beneath its pillars hides one of the most precious secrets of Sinnoh: a cave where Gible live, the future Garchomp.

🚲The Cycling Road

At the southern gatehouse of Eterna City, Professor Rowan’s assistant, Dawn’s or Lucas’s father, gives you the Exp. Share if you have seen at least 35 Pokémon. The Cycling Road then slopes gently downward: let yourself glide. About ten cyclists challenge you along the way, with level 15 to 21 Pokémon.

Under the road, a stretch of the route can be reached on foot. You will find Ponyta, Stunky (Diamond), Bronzor and Kricketune there, as well as a Honey Tree and Berry trees.

🌙Wayward Cave

The main entrance of the cave opens northwest of the route, under the road. It is a very dark maze: TM70 Flash, found in the basement of the Oreburgh Gate, lights it up completely. At the far end is a lost little girl, Mira, who asks you to take her back out. She fights at your side with a Kadabra (level 18 in Diamond and Pearl, 26 in Platinum) and heals your team after each battle.

The main cave is optional, but it holds TM32 Double Team and many hidden items (a Nugget in Diamond and Pearl, Shards in Platinum).

🦈The secret entrance and Gible

A second, invisible entrance is hidden between the pillars of the Cycling Road. Stand in front of the main entrance, take a few steps south, follow the wall along the pillars and slip between them. In Diamond and Pearl, a boulder blocks the way: you need Strength. In Platinum, the cave is accessible right away.

This is where, and only where at this point in the game, Gible lives (15% of encounters in Diamond and Pearl, 20% in Platinum). This little Dragon and Ground shark becomes Gabite at level 24, then Garchomp at level 48: one of the most powerful Pokémon in the entire series. At the end of the cave, after a series of jumps on the Bicycle, you will find TM26 Earthquake.

The Cycling Road ends on Route 207, just north of Oreburgh City: Route 207, Mt. Coronet and Route 208.
