On the edge of Route 7, a Loire-style chateau welcomes the aristocracy of Trainers. You battle there to earn titles of nobility, from Baron to Grand Duke, and, at the top, to face the Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and the League Champion herself.

🏰The principle

On your first visit, on Viola’s advice, the butler names you Baron or Baroness. In the chateau’s salons, noble Trainers await you: each victory brings you closer to the next title. These are standard battles, with experience and money as rewards.

  • The chateau’s Trainers change over time: a new one arrives about every six minutes when you change rooms, and their name is announced.
  • Your title rises with your victories and your progress in the adventure.

👑The titles of nobility

  1. Baron, Baroness: on your first visit.
  2. Viscount, Viscountess
  3. Count, Countess
  4. Marquis, Marchioness: Gym Leaders can be challenged.
  5. Duke, Duchess: Elite Four members can be challenged. The Gym Leaders, once you have faced them all and beaten the League, become Dukes in their turn.
  6. Grand Duke, Grand Duchess: you can finally face Diantha, the Grand Duchess.

✉️The invitations

You can send invitations to attract Trainers. Most of them unlock with your titles. Each type attracts different Trainers, and stays active until midnight on the day it is sent.

  • Invitation: new Trainers arrive every three minutes.
  • Silver Invitation: a new Trainer every minute.
  • Gold Invitation and Black Challenge Notice: more prestigious invitations, which attract other Trainers.

Several invitations stack: the Silver Invitation, the Gold Invitation and the Black Challenge Notice can be used together.

📚A very literary chateau

The French names of the chateau’s nobles are a nod to the grand aristocracy, and in particular to the characters of Marcel Proust: you meet Stermaria, Sherbatoff, Morienval or Norpois, as in In Search of Lost Time. A defeated Baron even trots out a very French proverb, given a Pokémon twist, with a Seismitoad and a Swanna.
