🪨Route 10, Menhir Trail

The route heads north between rows of menhirs, small near Cyllage City, huge as you approach Geosenge Town. This is where you cross paths with Team Flare again: three Grunts lurk among the stones and challenge you. Remember these menhirs, you will hear about them later.

Hordes of Nosepass and Yanma give a lot of experience at once with a move that hits multiple targets.

  • On the ground: the Mind Plate and an X Accuracy around the first circle of menhirs, a Thunder Stone north of Psychic Eyric.
  • The puzzle: to the southeast, boulders are arranged between the stones. With HM04 Strength, push them to open the way to TM73 Thunder Wave, which paralyzes without fail.

🗿Geosenge Town

In the center of town stand three great curved menhirs: a sign explains that they supposedly give off a mysterious energy. A few residents speak in hushed tones about strange comings and goings. Nothing else to report for now, but you will come back here much later in the adventure.

  • The Pokémon Center: an old man on the left gives you TM66 Payback.
  • The house northwest of the Center: a Scientist gives you an Everstone. Held by a Pokémon, it prevents it from evolving, and it is mostly useful at the Day Care to pass down a parent’s nature.
  • On the ground: a Soft Sand in the far southwest of town and a Timer Ball behind the beachfront hotel.

🥊Korrina is waiting for you

At the east exit, toward Route 11, a girl on roller skates blocks your way: it is Korrina, the Shalour City Gym Leader, whom you spotted on Route 5. She wants to see what you are made of before your visit to her Gym. It is the first time in the series that a Gym Leader battles you outside their Gym, before you have even reached it.

Our strategy

Korrina swears by Lucario alone: level 25, Fighting and Steel types.
Lucario fears Fire, Fighting and Ground. A Fire Pokémon, like Fennekin, Litleo or Fletchinder, puts it in trouble.
It often opens with Swords Dance, then strikes with Power-Up Punch, which raises its Attack with every hit: do not let it run away with the battle. Honedge, a Ghost type, is immune to Power-Up Punch as well as to Feint.

After the battle, Korrina heads off to Shalour City and tells you to meet her at her Gym.

Next step: Route 11 and Reflection Cave.
