The sixth generation introduced the most surprising evolution methods in the series: turning the console upside down, leveling up a Pokémon in the rain, or having a Dark-type Pokémon in your party. Here are all the evolutions of the Pokémon of Kalos, and how to trigger them.
✨Kalos’s new evolution methods

Inkay, turned upside down
Inkay evolves into Malamar at level 30… as long as you hold the 3DS upside down when it levels up.

Sliggoo in the rain
Sliggoo evolves into Goodra at level 50, but only if it is raining in the battle: Route 14 and Route 19 are ideal.

Pancham and Dark types
Pancham evolves into Pangoro at level 32 if a Dark-type Pokémon is in your party.

Sylveon and affection
Eevee becomes Sylveon if it knows a Fairy-type move and has high affection for you, at least two hearts in Pokémon-Amie, when it levels up.

Fossils, day and night
Tyrunt evolves into Tyrantrum at level 39 during the day, and Amaura into Aurorus at level 39 at night.

Meowstic, male or female
Espurr evolves into Meowstic at level 25, and its form and moves differ depending on its gender.
📍Location-based evolutions
- The mossy rock on Route 20: an Eevee that levels up nearby becomes Leafeon.
- The icy rock in Frost Cavern: an Eevee that levels up nearby becomes Glaceon.
- Route 13: Magneton becomes Magnezone and Nosepass becomes Probopass there when they level up.

💡Good to know
- Evolution stones can be bought at the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City and are found all over the region. See evolution items and held items.
- Trade evolutions are done with a friend locally. Since the 3DS online services shut down, this is the only way: see playing today.
- Stopping an evolution: press B during the animation, or have the Pokémon hold an Everstone.
