Kalos has its own legendary trio, inspired by the world tree of Norse myth: the stag of life, the bird of destruction and the serpent that guards order. X and Y add Mewtwo, the three birds of Kanto and three Mythical Pokémon. Here is where and how to get them.

🌳The Kalos trio

Xerneas, in X

The Life Pokémon, a Fairy type. It is said to have lived for a thousand years in the form of a tree. Its Ability Fairy Aura boosts all Fairy-type moves on the field, and Geomancy sharply raises three of its stats. Team Flare Secret HQ, Level 50.

Yveltal, in Y

The Destruction Pokémon, Dark and Flying. At the end of its life, it turns into a cocoon. Its Ability Dark Aura boosts Dark-type moves, and Oblivion Wing restores a large part of the damage it deals. Team Flare Secret HQ, Level 50.

Zygarde, in both versions

Dragon and Ground, the guardian of the ecosystem. It hides deep inside Terminus Cave, on Route 18, accessible after the Pokémon League. Level 70.

🧬Mewtwo

X and Y give it two Mega Evolutions: Mega Mewtwo X, Psychic and Fighting, a physical brute, and Mega Mewtwo Y, Psychic, one of the most powerful special attackers in the whole series. The Mewtwonite for your version appears where Mewtwo was standing, right after you catch it.

🦅The legendary birds of Kanto

Only one of the three birds is waiting for you, depending on your Kalos starter Pokémon. At first it roams the region and flees as soon as you run into it. After ten encounters, it settles in the Sea Spirit’s Den, in the middle of Azure Bay, at Level 70.

🎁The Mythical Pokémon

Three Mythical Pokémon of the sixth generation were never available in the game itself: they were distributed during events, all now over.

Diancie

Rock and Fairy, a pink jewel born from a mutated Carbink. Its Mega Evolution only arrived with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Hoopa

Psychic and Ghost, the Mischief Pokémon and its rings. It was notably distributed by code in France and Belgium.

Volcanion

🌍The other Legendary Pokémon

No other Legendary Pokémon can be caught in Kalos. The others arrive by trade or transfer from other games, using Pokémon Bank. Some react to Kalos items: the Reveal Glass from Reflection Cave changes the forme of Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus, and the DNA Splicers from Kiloude City fuse Kyurem.
