At the exit of the forest, the gang splits up: each heads off to live their own dream. Santalune City, the town that recalls Fontainebleau, gives you your first Pokémon Center, a pair of roller skates and a Gym behind a photo gallery.

🛣️Route 3
On Route 3, everyone announces their goal: Trevor wants to complete the Pokédex, Tierno is looking for inspiration for his dance routines, Shauna wants to get to know her Pokémon, and your rival wants to challenge the Gym Leaders of Kalos. Serena or Calem hands you the Adventure Guide, a little guide for beginners.
In the tall grass, Bidoof, Azurill and Burmy appear, as does the rarer Dunsparce. Water and fishing are not yet available to you.

🏘️Santalune City
Enter the Pokémon Center: Tierno, dancing, explains how it works. New to X and Y, the Poké Mart is inside every Pokémon Center, at the back on the right.
- The Trainers’ School, to the north, teaches types and status conditions. The teacher gives you an X Attack and an X Defense.
- The clothing store, to the right of the Pokémon Center, is the first place where you can change your style: hats and accessories, with stock that changes from day to day.
- A trade: in a house west of the fountain, a Hiker trades his Farfetch’d, nicknamed Inspector Magret, for a Bunnelby. It has 31 IVs in Speed.
- Two houses west of the Center: in one, a woman rates how happy your Pokémon are; in the other, a person tells you about the Kalos Gym Badges.
🛼Grace and the Roller Skates
In front of the Gym, a Roller Skater, Grace, blocks your way. Beat her: she gives you a pair of Roller Skates. They put themselves on automatically: use the Circle Pad to glide, and the Directional Pad to walk. They are faster than running, and you will learn tricks later in the adventure.
A journalist, Alexa, is blocking the exit to Route 4 for now: she wants you to battle her younger sister, the Gym Leader, first.
