Two Pokémon of the same species, at the same level, do not necessarily have the same stats. Three invisible factors make the difference: IVs, which are innate, EVs, which are earned through training, and nature. X and Y made mastering them accessible to everyone thanks to Super Training. Here is how to understand, measure and optimize them, with two calculators.

Every Pokémon receives, when you meet it or when it hatches, a value from 0 to 31 for each of its six stats: these are its IVs, or individual values. At Level 100, each IV point is worth one stat point.

EVs, or effort values, are added through training. A Pokémon can accumulate 510 in total, with 252 at most in any one stat in X and Y. At Level 100, four EVs are worth one stat point.
