🦏Route 9, Spikes Passage

The ground is too rough to walk on, so you cross the route on Rhyhorn‘s back, which smashes the rocks blocking the way with a headbutt. Wild Pokémon only live on gravel surfaces, and burst out from under your mount’s feet: Hippopotas, Sandile and Helioptile, the Electric and Normal Pokémon that spreads its frill in the sun.

Smash the rocks to reach an X Defense, a Paralyze Heal and, at the end of a narrow passage, a Fire Stone. A Pokémon Ranger heals your team before the cave.

💎Glittering Cave

The first part of the cave is a narrow maze. There are no random encounters here: Pokémon leap out of the shadows that block certain dead ends. In the deep zone, they drop from the ceiling or come out of rocks that you break with Rock Smash. Do not miss TM65 Shadow Claw, at the end of the third branch.

In the deep zone, Grunts in red outfits block your path: Team Flare. They want to steal the fossils to resell them. Your rival arrives as reinforcement for a multi battle.

Our strategy

Scraggy and Croagunk, both at level 20, are partly Fighting type: a Flying-type Pokémon hits both hard. Croagunk also fears Psychic and Ground, but Scraggy, a Dark type, is immune to Psychic and fears Fairy. Target Scraggy first, the sturdier one, together with your rival.

At the back of the cave, the Lab assistant, unaware of the danger, offers you his two fossils. You choose one, and your rival takes the other:

Go back to Ambrette Town: the assistant revives your fossil at level 20, and the Scientist gives you the Aerodactylite for rescuing his colleague.
