Since X and Y, a Pokémon has a 1 in 4,096 chance of being shiny, twice as much as before. When it appears, stars sparkle around it, with a distinctive sound: you can’t miss it.
Before you start, prepare a Pokémon with False Swipe, which always leaves 1 HP, and another that puts to sleep or paralyzes. And save often.
