🚲The Bicycle and HM Strength

Come back from Ambrette Town along the beach on Route 8: a Swimmer gives you the Dowsing Machine. In Cyllage City, enter the Bike Shop: you are the 10,001st customer. Answer “Of course!” to the question about colors and choose a yellow or green Bicycle. The choice is final.

Then climb the cycling track up the hill: at the top, Grant calls out to you. A race has just ended, and he gives you HM04 Strength as a consolation prize. It moves big boulders, and you will need it in Connecting Cave.

  • The seaside hotel: on the ground floor, a man gives you TM44 Rest and a girl gives you TM88 Sleep Talk; on the first floor, a Maid gives you the Destiny Knot, a valuable item for breeding.
  • A house near the Black Belt, as you come from Ambrette Town: a man gives you a Whipped Dream in Pokémon X, or a Sachet in Pokémon Y, two evolution items.
  • A trade: a level 20 Steelix for a Luvdisc, which you can fish up with the Old Rod right here.

🧗The climbing Gym

Cyllage Gym is a huge climbing wall: climb from hold to hold up to the summit, taking on the four climbers dotted along the face. Rock type fears Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground and Steel: Froakie, Chespin, Mienfoo or a Water Pokémon fished up on the coast will do the job.

Our strategy

Grant uses both Kalos fossils, at level 25.
Amaura (Rock and Ice) is four times weak to Fighting and Steel, and twice weak to Water, Grass and Ground. Its ability Refrigerate turns its Normal-type moves, like Take Down, into Ice-type moves: be careful if you play Chespin. It also knows Thunder Wave, which paralyzes.
Tyrunt (Rock and Dragon) hits hard with Stomp and Rock Tomb, which lowers your Speed. It is weak to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ice, Dragon and Fairy. A Water or Grass attack only deals normal damage to it.

Grant hands you the Cliff Badge and TM39 Rock Tomb.

Next step: Route 10 and Geosenge Town.
