This is the big new feature of X and Y: for the duration of a battle, certain Pokémon go beyond their final forme. A Mega Stone held by the Pokémon, a Mega Ring on the Trainer’s wrist, and a bond strong enough between the two. Here is how it works, and where to find each stone.

💍The rules
- Two items are needed: the Trainer’s Mega Ring, received at the Tower of Mastery in Shalour City, and the species-specific Mega Stone, held by the Pokémon.
- Only one per battle: only one Pokémon on your team can Mega Evolve during a single battle.
- Until the end of the battle: the transformation lasts until the end, even if the Pokémon is switched out, and then it returns to its normal forme.
- Boosted stats: the total goes up by 100 points. The type and Ability may change: Mega Gyarados becomes Water and Dark, Mega Charizard X becomes Fire and Dragon.
- On the first turn, Mega Evolution happens before attacks, but its new Speed only counts from the following turn.
📍The 30 Mega Stones
Some are obtained during the adventure. Most only appear after the Pokémon League, once the Mega Ring has been upgraded at the sundial in Anistar City, and only between 8 and 9 p.m. The X and Y notes mark stones exclusive to one version.

🏆The best Mega Evolutions for the adventure

Mega Lucario
Given to you in Shalour City, it is available very early. Its Ability Adaptability further boosts its Fighting and Steel moves.

Mega Charizard X or Y
If you choose Charmander, Sycamore gives you the stone for your version. X becomes Fire and Dragon, Y gains Drought, which boosts Fire.

Mega Kangaskhan
Its baby attacks a second time with every hit. Fearsome, but its stone only arrives after the Pokémon League.

Mega Gardevoir
Pixilate turns its Normal moves into boosted Fairy moves. The stone comes from Diantha, after the Pokémon League.
