During their commercial life, X and Y received many gifts: Mythical Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, Mega Stones that cannot be found any other way. All these events are over, but they explain many of the gaps in the Pokédex. Here is what was distributed, and what can still be obtained.
The distributions went through Mystery Gift, in the game’s main menu: over the Internet, with a code entered by hand, or locally in certain stores. Since the end of the 3DS online services in April 2024, no more distributions over the Internet are possible.
An event Pokémon received at the time remains perfectly usable, however, and can still be traded locally.
