For the first time in the series, X and Y let you dress your Trainer from head to toe. Since Kalos is France, fashion is serious business there: hats, glasses, bags, shoes, and even a hairstyle to change. Here is how to look your best.
👓Your starting look
At the start of the game, you choose to play a boy or a girl, then from three looks, with different skin, eye and hair colours. This choice is final for skin, but hair and clothes can then be changed freely, in your room or in the boutique fitting rooms.
🛍️The boutiques of Kalos
Each town has its own boutique, with its own style, and the stock changes depending on the day of the week.
- Santalune City: the first boutique, for simple outfits.
- Laverre City: eclectic clothes and accessories, with a stock that varies every day.
- Snowbelle City: elegant, classic pieces.
- The high-fashion boutique in Lumiose City: haute couture, which only opens its doors to you once your style is high enough.
✨Style
Your style is a hidden value that increases when you spend money in Lumiose City: clothes, restaurants, cafés, the hairdresser, taxis, the museum audio guide. A high style opens the most exclusive addresses, such as the high-fashion boutique or the exclusive sushi restaurant, and lowers some prices, such as that of the Mega Stones at the Stone Emporium.
💇The hairstyle
The hair salon in Lumiose City changes your cut and hair colour.
🎬Trainer videos
At the video studio, near Professor Sycamore’s Lab, shoot a ten-second video of your character, with poses and lines. Other players discover it in the PSS.
🎁Special outfits
- Kiloude City park: after the League, an artist short of inspiration gives you a unique outfit if she likes your style, a Pangoro beanie or a dress inspired by Slurpuff.
