The Fairy Type and the Type Chart

For the first time since 1999, X and Y add a type: Fairy. Designed to rebalance battles against Dragons, it also shakes up Pokémon known for years, such as Clefable and Gardevoir. Here is what changed, with the complete type chart.

• It is super effective against Dragon, Fighting and Dark.
• It is not very effective against Fire, Poison and Steel.
• It is weak to Poison and Steel.
• It resists Fighting, Bug and Dark, and it is immune to Dragon.

Cleffa, Clefairy, Clefable, Togepi, Snubbull and Granbull become pure Fairy; Togetic and Togekiss become Fairy and Flying; Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff and Azurill become Normal and Fairy; Marill and Azumarill become Water and Fairy; Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Mime Jr. and Mr. Mime become Psychic and Fairy; Mawile becomes Steel and Fairy.

🛡️The other change: Steel

Steel loses two resistances: it no longer resists Ghost or Dark moves. In exchange, it becomes one of the two answers to the Fairy type, along with Poison.
